I’ve been lectured from the right, and that’s okay. From what they’ve told me, I’m supposed to just let democracy work its magic, take a back seat, and shut up. I’m supposed to just see how everything unfolds. “We won. You lost. Let it go.” My answer to that request: “Hell no.”
An extremely close family member of mine told me before the election that if Trump lost, there would be a ‘revolution.’ Right after Clinton lost, I felt a slight sense of relief that we at least wouldn’t have to endure an uprising of blazing gunfire in our streets. We wouldn’t have our towns set alight by angry right-wing rebels. What I did not expect was the surge of triumphant gestures from alt-right extremists who experienced a renewed sense of empowerment with this Trump victory. I did not anticipate the swell of news about Nazis, white supremacists and organized demonstrations signifying that a new world order had just taken shape. I did not expect a gush of events where faiths and sexual preferences would be harassed. Like an army with free reign to torch an entire village – we heard the battle cries from the alt-right loons right after the election results were announced. Like a band of rebels, they pranced around on their high and mighty horses of ignorance, admonishing the victims left defenseless. When the orange blustering blowhard won the election, these victims (Muslims and Jews, the LBGT, people of color, refugees, immigrants) figuratively felt the government’s shroud of safety unfurl and blow away – leaving them prey to these Trumpian sycophants. The uptick of hatred and anger from those who have been ‘silent for too long’ was a direct result of Trump’s election. The orange bobblehead did not have much to say about this revolt. A finger-wagging is about all they got from him on 60 Minutes.
These Trump voters… I cannot explain. They expect Trump to be their knight in shining armor? Will he wield his mighty sword of nationalistic fury and demolish the idealistic principles which have wreaked havoc upon the America they used to know, back when their America didn’t bend an ear to progressive thought, science, equal rights and ‘elitist’ principles? They think he’ll dismantle the establishment, drain the swamp, keep out the lobbyists, stop the bureaucracy and shovel that bullshit out of Washington D.C. With his mighty sword, he’ll crop out all the whiners sucking upon the tit of America’s health and welfare systems, build a behemoth wall to ‘divide and protect’ us from foreign froth, and negotiate with our friendly foreign business officials with a silver tongue? Such a way with words he’ll have with them that money will be spilling back into our nation. Ah, yes. Factories will balloon in gastronomic manufacturing glory in every Midwest town; America’s unions will be swimming in excess job opportunities and overtime; guns will be held resplendently at one’s side without the threat of abolishment hanging over camouflaged, cargo-pants-wearing heads.
I see now… I’m supposed to give it time. Give it a chance. Soon, I’ll also be reveling in the wonderment of our nation and how it was single-handedly brought back from the depths of despair by a man with a big, big brain. So big. Very big.
Liberals (even you Bernie die-hards) and all the other voters who vehemently opposed a Trump Presidency based on the man he presented himself to be: for the love of progress and making your voices heard, grow some courage. Democrats cannot win in today’s world. In today’s world, we cannot think and pretend that intellect and playing fair with others to the right will result in a bipartisan Nirvana. Today, scratching the others’ backs will only get yours stabbed. There is no such thing as a meet in the middle negotiation. There is no such thing anymore as a just democracy. Politics, as is well known, can and always has been dirty – but there is now a much darker and sinister game being played. A recouping of 1950s era good ol’ boys club bravado and bigotry, intermixed with cyber warfare, espionage, unscrupulous behind-the-curtain deals, and cronyism at its highest levels, has now become our government. The greatest travesty is that Obama was too blinded by faith, thinking he was leader of a fair play government. Case in point: FBI Director, James Comey. Obama thought he was extending the olive branch, setting up a base of trust between the two parties by renewing Comey’s term when he could have/should have replaced him with a member of the Democratic Party. But, there is a seedy game that doesn’t play nice. Comey did what Clinton/Obama didn’t expect: he screwed them into the ground, buried them 6 feet under, and planted a wreath made of fecal matter upon their grave of trust.
Wake up democrats. This isn’t a ‘go-high’ boxing ring. This is a fight-with-bare-fists shit show. We are dealing with choices our America has made to elect a man without scruples, or intellect. Trump’s cabinet will now fit in nicely at a white-sheet gathering. We are dealing with a government team of like-minded dogmatists and alt-right demagogues. We are up against something far worse than a fascistic President-elect on steroids. We are up against pure malevolence. No, Michelle Obama, when they go low, we hit below the belt in the same fashion. Fight fire with fire. We didn’t lose this election; something went awry. Yes, we were duped. We trusted. Obama sadly believed in the phony notion of bipartisanship. He still believed in honesty and integrity – and that it could be produced from both sides of the parties. Little did he understand that many Republicans had promised each other from the beginning of his Presidency that they would filibuster and block any and all legislation supported by the United States’ first black president.
We believed our electoral process was legitimate. But listen closely… that was something from the past. That was before Putin. That was before faux news. That was before malware and cyber crime. That was before we were given the choice to vote with our conscience – and sadly, those who voted for Trump chose to vote without one. We the people were put up against a wall with our backs turned and our faces blindfolded. Something far more sinister played out during the campaign and on election day, and we will see this come to light very soon.
Now, I’ll take the advice I was given from my Republican friends. I’ll sit back and wait for our great white savior to begin his term. Unfortunately, we’re on a sinking ship. Trump is not just a drunken sailor – he’s a Blackbeard, a Jean Lafitte, a Benjamin Hornigold, all rolled into one. He’s a dirty, dirty pirate. And he’s going to ruin our America in one fell swoop. Sorry. That’s the truth.
Once again I marvel at your exquisite style and presentation of this fraud, keep it up.
Thank you! 🙂

My dear. You are so right and so amazing. Keep it up.
Kellie! I am so proud to call you my niece! You are right on target! I’m planning on getting more politically involved! We can’t let this monster and his deplorable minions succeed! Yes those of you who voted for him or claimed you didn’t vote are distributing and deplorable! You chose party over country! The current ideals expressed and not my American or Christian values! The fight has just begun!
Thanks! I appreciate your comments!
I loved your article only wish you wouldn’t have compared him to a drunken sailor…..some of us just need help coping with the madness, doesn’t make us trumpeters. And please don’t give him so much credit to compare him to our fighting elete sailors drunk or not I’m proud to have served weather drunk or sober!
There a good drunken sailors… and then there are bombastic, evil, conniving, throat-slitting drunken sailors. 😉
I am in complete support of your eloquently written article Kellie – excellent job!!!!
